Believed my looks were everything

When I was 13 I believed the way I looked was everything. I was put down by the 'popular girls' for trying to look like them. One day I asked them 'what's cool at the moment?" and as a joke they said piercings and I believed it. I got pierced wherever I could without telling my parents.
I went to show the girls and they broke down into laughter and teased me about it. I felt like life wasn't worth living anymore, then I was told about Kids Helpline by a girl at my school (that wasn't even my friend). Ever since I called them my life got back on track through one person understanding and caring for me.
