Dad diagnosed with epilepsy
14 year old female
6 years ago, my dad was diagnosed with epilepsy and he has fits. I never told anyone about this and usually kept it to myself. After experiencing many of his fits, I realised I couldn't keep it in any longer, I had to talk to someone about it. One of my friends suggested that i check out the Kids Helpline website. So when I got home I did, and I tried the web counselling service.
I talked to a counsellor about everything, and after a while they suggested I tried using the phone service. I was really nervous about calling for the first time but when I called I realised there was nothing to be nervous about. I really opened up to my counsellor and told her everything, and she's helped me with it all.
If it wasn't for Kids Helpline I probably wouldn't have told anyone about it, but I'm glad I did. I feel a lot better about the situation, and it's made me realise that you're not alone, there are people out there that will listen. Thanks Kids Helpline. :)
